Vertical Garden in Falcon Village

On 27, Jan 2013 | In Community, Gardens, Vertical Gardens | By sbatalla

The Falcon Village neighborhood of our On Broadway Business Association has been awarded a grant from the Long Beach Neighborhood Partners Program (NPP) to build an installation of vertical gardens throughout the area of E. Broadway Ave. and Falcon Ave.

Vertical gardens—or “green walls”—are specially designed living walls that create a patterned, climbing garden along the façade of a building surface. The gardens will be a unique, first-of-its-kind landmark for the neighborhood and will help to beautify the area by re-populating space already available along commercial walls and store fronts. The green wall designs have been donated by Meg Beatrice and Shelby Batalla from local firm Architecture M, and the installations are being constructed in collaboration with business and community residents throughout the Falcon Village.

Groundbreaking starts on the project this spring and all volunteers are welcome to help launch these landmark installations.
