SCI-ARC CLEANTECH CORRIDOR COMPETITION | LOS ANGELES, CA
Districts are organized by views to the Los Angeles river, Metro stations and existing highway infrastructure and incorporate a closed loop energy system to alleviate the need for outside resources. Users are guided through vegetated corridors to an elevated park along the river that provides large tracts of open space for recreation and conceals operating freight trains which distribute materials to manufacturing areas.
To preserve open space, the manufacturing center is constructed underground and acts as the southern entrance and anchor for the Cleantech Corridor. The use of materials, energy and water will be closed loop systems to minimize waste and reuse or recycle what remains. The roof of the facility is transformed into recreational fields, gardens, urban farming plots, visitor’s pavilion and amphitheater with access to the elevated park via view corridors.
